Moti Mahal, known as the "Pearl Palace," is a grand historical palace in the Gudri Bazar area of Faizabad, closely associated with the Nawabi period. Constructed in the mid-18th century, it served as the residence of Bahu Begum (Ummatuzzohra Banu Begum), the influential wife of Nawab Shuja-ud-Daula, whom she married in 1743. The palace is celebrated for its magnificent Mughal-inspired architecture, reflecting the opulence and cultural synthesis of Awadh's rulers. Surrounded by well-manicured gardens, Moti Mahal stands as a testament to the luxurious lifestyle of the Nawabs and their contributions to Faizabad's skyline, alongside sites like Gulab Bari and Bahu Begum ka Maqbara. Though less maintained today, it remains an important example of 18th-century Indo-Islamic design and Nawabi heritage.
