Hazrat Peer Mitha (RA), also known as Qutab-e-Alam Subzwari, was a revered Sufi saint of the 14th–15th century who came to Jammu from Sabzwar (Iran) around 1462 AD. The dargah is located on the western bank of the River Tawi and is closely associated with Raja Ajaib Dev of Jammu. According to historical tradition, the Raja constructed the tomb as an act of gratitude after the saint miraculously cured his queen of leprosy. Peer Mitha was known for his sweetness of speech, humility, and spiritual powers, which attracted followers from all communities. He shared a deep spiritual bond with Sidh Gharib Nath Jogi of Peer Kho, making the area a unique symbol of Hindu-Muslim harmony. The shrine has since remained an important centre of devotion, especially visited on Thursdays, during Urs, and on occasions like Moharram, reflecting the saint’s message of unity, tolerance, and secular values.
