Haji Pir, also known as Zinda Pir or Vali Pir, is a revered figure believed to have arrived in the region as a soldier in the army of Shahabuddin Muhammad Ghauri. After leaving military service, he chose to settle in Nara, where he became a symbol of devotion and courage. He is remembered for his selfless act of sacrificing his life while protecting cows from dacoits, an act that elevated his status as a spiritual and noble figure. Having performed the Hajj, the Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, he earned the honorific title of "Haji Pir," signifying his piety and dedication to faith. Every year, an annual fair is organized in his honor on the first Monday of the Chaitra month, which typically falls in April. This event draws people from across Gujarat who come to pay their respects at the shrine. The fair also serves as an opportunity for devotees to visit the nearby Karol Pir Dargah, creating a vibrant atmosphere of faith and communal harmony. The legacy of Haji Pir continues to inspire generations, and his shrine stands as a testament to his spiritual significance and enduring connection with the community.
