Adilabad Fort, also known as Muhammadabad, is located approximately 1 km east of the entrance to Tughlaqabad Fort, across the Mehrauli-Badarpur road, and is part of a significant heritage area in Delhi that also includes Ghiyasuddin Tughlaq?s Tomb and Tughlaqabad Fort. Built on the hills to the south of Tughlaqabad, Adilabad is a modestly sized fort surrounded by massive protective ramparts that linked with the walls of Jahanpanah city. Though smaller than Tughlaqabad Fort, it shares a similar design. The fort features two gates, one with barbicans between two bastions on the southeast and another on the southwest, with chambers at the lower levels and grain bins and courtyards on the upper floors of the east and west gates. Inside the fort is a citadel with walls, bastions, and gates, enclosing the palaces. The fortifications, measuring 12 meters in thickness and extending 8 kilometers in length, connected Adilabad with the city walls. Nearby, approximately 700 meters away, is the Nai-ka-Kot (Barber?s Fortress), a smaller fortress with ruins of the citadel and former army camps.
