Baba Naseeb-ud-Din Ghazi, born as Nassar-Ud-Din, was a prominent Sufi saint whose life and works have left an indelible mark on the spiritual landscape of Kashmir. Originating from Rawalpindi, he accompanied his father, Hassan Ghazi, to Kashmir at a young age. By the age of seven, he became a disciple of Sultan-ul-Arifeen Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom, a leading spiritual figure of the time. Under Makhdoom's guidance, and later that of Sheikh Dawood Khaki, Baba Naseeb-ud-Din Ghazi underwent rigorous spiritual training, emerging as a distinguished scholar and mystic. His dedication to the dissemination of Islamic teachings led him to traverse some of the most inaccessible regions of his era, including Tibet, Skardu, Karnah, Dardistan, Baltistan, Kishtwar, Doda, Baderwah, Poonch, Rajouri, Nowshera, and parts of Budgam like Soibugh and Chewdara. In these areas, he established approximately 1,200 mosques, along with bathrooms, traveler inns (Musafir Khanas), and bridges. He also initiated the planting of trees along roadsides, enhancing both the spiritual and physical infrastructure of the communities he touched. A prolific writer, Baba Naseeb-ud-Din Ghazi authored around 22 books, primarily in Arabic and Persian, contributing significantly to Islamic literature and thought. His scholarly works and spiritual teachings attracted numerous disciples, including notable figures such as Sheikh Momin, Haaj Baba, Baba Abdullah Guzaryali, Mohammed Amin Sofi, Mula Zehri Kashmiri, Khawaja Mohammed Amin Ghazi, and Mulla Tayub Tahiri. The Baba Naseeb-ud-Din Ghazi Dargah in Bijbehara serves as his final resting place and a center for spiritual gatherings. The shrine's architecture reflects traditional Kashmiri craftsmanship, featuring intricate woodwork and serene surroundings that offer a tranquil environment for reflection and prayer. Devotees and visitors frequent the dargah to pay their respects, seek blessings, and immerse themselves in the spiritual ambiance that pervades the site. The dargah also plays a pivotal role during annual Urs celebrations, commemorating the saint's life and teachings.
