Managed by Anjuman-E-Nasiran-E-Ahlebait (Regd.), it features a spacious campus with a white-washed architectural design, functioning as a place for daily prayers, Friday congregational prayers, and Shia commemorative events. India boasts a rich tapestry of historical Islamic sites, including grand mosques, majestic imambaras, and revered shrines that reflect centuries of architectural, cultural, and religious heritage. Iconic examples include the 16th-17th century masterpieces like the Jama Masjid in Delhi (built 1644–1658 by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan), the Bara Imambara in Lucknow (constructed 1784–1791 by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula as a Shia congregation hall with its famous labyrinth Bhulbhulaiya), the Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad (begun in 1614), and historic dargahs like Ajmer Sharif (shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti, 13th century). In contrast to these centuries-old monuments, the Shia Imambara in Knowledge Park II, Greater Noida, represents a contemporary addition to India's Islamic religious landscape. Located in the rapidly developing Knowledge Park II area of Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh), this complex serves the growing Shia community in the National Capital Region's outskirts. The site spans about 4000 square meters and includes both a Shia Jama Masjid for regular prayers and an attached imambara for majlis (gatherings), azadari (mourning processions), and other Shia-specific observances. Pioneered by the late Janab Safdar Abbas Rizvi Sahab (former General Manager - Projects at Greater Noida Authority) and managed by Anjuman-E-Nasiran-E-Ahlebait, construction commenced in 2010, with the main masjid portion completed by February 2014. The Pesh Imam (prayer leader) has been Maulana Ghulam Haider Sahab. The building features a clean, white-washed exterior typical of modern mosque designs, emphasizing functionality, accessibility (including wheelchair-friendly features), and community focus. It stands as a vital local hub for worship, education, and cultural events, drawing visitors from nearby areas for its serene atmosphere and role in preserving Shia traditions in a modern urban setting.
