The Hajrath Nakasban Valiullah Dargah Sharif (often referred to as the Hajrath Naqshbandi Dargah) is a revered Sufi shrine located in the Manambuchavadi area of Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. It serves as a spiritual sanctuary and a symbol of the deep-rooted Sufi traditions in the Cauvery delta region. Historical & Religious Significance The Naqshbandi Legacy: The Dargah is dedicated to a saint from the Naqshbandi Sufi order, one of the major spiritual lineages in Islam that emphasizes silent meditation (dhikr) and strict adherence to the Sharia. A Sanctuary of "Vilayath": The shrine is associated with the lineage of Hazrath Saheb Valiullah of Thanjavur (1924–1991), a prominent Sufi figure who spent much of his life in spiritual seclusion and remembrance of Allah. It is a site where the annual Urs festival is observed with great devotion, featuring the traditional sandal paste procession and special prayers that attract devotees seeking blessings for health and prosperity. Location & Connectivity The Dargah is tucked within the traditional residential streets of Manambuchavadi, near the Sivan Kovil (temple), reflecting the pluralistic character of the neighborhood. Accessibility: It is easily reached by auto-rickshaws from the Thanjavur Junction or the Old Bus Stand.
