The Dargah of Hazrat Meeran Hussaini Baghdadi (RA) is located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. This revered site, also known as Hazrat Meeran Hussaini Dargah, serves as the final resting place of the great Sufi saint, Hazrat Syed Meeran Hussaini Baghdadi (RA)
Hazrat Syed Meeran Hussaini, also revered as Hazrat Meran Hussaini al Hamvi, holds a prominent place in Islamic history as a member of the Sadat lineage, being a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through his daughter, Hazrat Fatima. Due to his ancestral lineage, he was given the name Hussaini, which became so widely used that it replaced his original name, Hussain. His patronymic name is "Ghouse-us-Sani," while his well-known title is "Shah Abadal," signifying his esteemed spiritual stature. Birth and Origin He was born in the year 960 A.H. in the renowned city of Hamat in Iraq, which is why he is also known as Al-Hamumi. From an early age, he displayed an extraordinary inclination toward acquiring knowledge and spirituality. His dedication to both Zaheri (external knowledge) and Talab Haq (the pursuit of Allah) marked the foundation of his spiritual journey, through which he became a revered scholar and saint. Education, Training, and Spiritual Leadership Hazrat Meeran Hussaini's early passion for knowledge led him to achieve mastery in various spiritual and academic disciplines. After years of rigorous self-discipline, he pledged spiritual allegiance (Bait) to his father, Hazrat Syed Shah Masud Hasan al Hussaini Quaderi Baghdadi. Under his father's guidance, he was awarded caliphate and the saintly dress, symbolizing his readiness to take on the responsibility of teaching and spreading the Islamic faith. Embarking on this divine mission, he traveled to distant lands, imparting spiritual wisdom and guiding seekers on the path to Allah. Migration to Golconda In his youth, Hazrat Meeran Hussaini migrated from Hamat, Iraq, along with 100 disciples and devotees, settling in the Golconda Kingdom of India. He chose the mosque near the Golconda Fort in Malkapur village (now known as Lunger House) as his residence and remained there for the rest of his life. His presence in this region brought immense spiritual enlightenment to the people, and his teachings left a lasting legacy. Conduct and Character Hazrat Meeran Hussaini was a paragon of piety, humility, and unwavering faith in Allah. His nights were spent in worship, and he never missed the Tahajjud prayer, a testament to his spiritual devotion. Detached from worldly affairs, he immersed himself in Zikr (invocation of Allah) and Shagal (spiritual engagement). He maintained a life of Tawakkul (absolute trust in Allah) and Istagna (contentment), refusing to accept gifts or presents from his disciples, emphasizing his reliance solely on Allah's provisions. Known for his compassion, he extended help to the poor and needy, earning the love and respect of all who came into contact with him. His qualities of asceticism (Zahed), piety (Taqwa), and elevated spiritual status drew both the common people and scholars to benefit from his divine wisdom and knowledge. Miracles and Revelations The life of Hazrat Meeran Hussaini was marked by numerous miracles and divine revelations. Among the many recorded events, one stands out for its profound impact. Once, during a severe period of hunger that lasted three days, he and his 100 disciples had no food. On the fourth day, Sultan Mohammed Quli Qutub Shah of Golconda ordered his companion, Istaqlal Khan, to deliver 50 trays (Kawan) of food to the sheikh. After the disciples had eaten to their fill, Hazrat Meeran Hussaini returned the trays to the royal kitchen. Miraculously, when the trays were opened, they were found intact, with no food missing. This miracle deeply moved Istaqlal Khan, who became a devoted disciple of the saint. Passing and Resting Place Hazrat Meeran Hussaini, like all pious personalities, transcended this worldly life to join another, better world in accordance with Allah's will. He left this world on the 13th of Jamad Awwal in 1049 A.H. at the age of ninety. His resting place is situated in the Lunger House crossroads area. His grave is enclosed within a four-sided structure, with two doors for visitors' convenience, one on the southern side and another recently constructed by a devotee. Within this structure, there are two graves, with his grave serving as a beacon of spiritual solace and inspiration for countless devotees who visit to seek blessings and offer prayers. Hazrat Meeran Hussaini's life and legacy continue to inspire generations, symbolizing devotion, selflessness, and unwavering faith in Allah.
