The T. Kalathur Syed Musthafa Dhargah (also known as the Kalathur Dargah) is a revered Sufi shrine and religious site located in T. Kalathur, a village situated on the border of the Perambalur and Ariyalur districts in Tamil Nadu. It is a major pilgrimage centre for devotees from across the state, dedicated to the Sufi saint Hazrat Syed Mustafa Shaheed Oliyullah. Historical & Religious Significance Sufi Legacy: The dargah is the final resting place of Hazrat Syed Mustafa, a saint associated with the lineage of the Ervadi Dargah. He is venerated for his spiritual teachings and is believed by many to be a "Shaheed" (martyr) who dedicated his life to the service of God and humanity. Establishment: While the spiritual presence of the saint dates back several centuries, the formal structural administration and the current congregational facilities were established in 1912. Over the past century, the shrine has evolved from a small village tomb into a large complex with a dedicated mosque. Universal Pilgrimage: The dargah is a unique symbol of communal harmony. Devotees of all faiths—Muslims, Hindus, and Christians—visit the shrine to seek blessings, healing, and spiritual peace. It is particularly famous for its "Miracle" traditions, with many visitors bringing sick relatives for spiritual intervention. Annual Urus: The most significant event is the Santhana Koodu (Urus) festival, held annually to commemorate the saint. During this time, the village of T. Kalathur transforms into a massive festival hub with processions, community feasts, and overnight spiritual discourses. The Mosque Complex: Adjoining the dargah is a well-maintained Sunni mosque where the five daily prayers (Salah) and Friday Jumu'ah prayers are held, serving the local "Jamath" and the thousands of pilgrims who stay at the shrine. Location & Connectivity: T. Kalathur is strategically located off the Chennai-Trichy National Highway (NH 45), making it highly accessible for travellers across the state. Dargah Architecture: The shrine features a traditional Islamic tomb structure with a large green dome and multiple minarets. The interior is known for its fragrant, peaceful atmosphere, adorned with flowers and incense offered by devotees. Pilgrim Amenities: Due to the high volume of visitors, the trust manages several "Musafir Khanas" (rest houses) and provides free communal meals (Langar) on special occasions.
